SAT® Seminars

According to The Boston Globe, private tutoring and test preparation is estimated to be a $12 billion industry. A large part of this industry is comprised of tutoring for the SAT®.

The monetization of this industry has the effect of selectively offering learning opportunities only to the wealthiest who can afford test prep. Most in-person SAT® prep classes charge between $20-$50 per hour, and most private tutors charge over double that range. Even just purchasing a handful of hours of lessons could set someone back hundreds of dollars, which many Americans can’t afford. Unfortunately, this means that every year, thousands of students take an exam that they have not prepared for, and compete with other students who have prepared with thousands of dollars worth of tutoring.

The NJAEI seeks to remedy this issue by providing completely free in-person tutoring to those of all socioeconomic backgrounds so that all can go into their testing center feeling prepared and familiar with the content they will be assessed on. Tutoring seminars are taught by high schoolers who received 1500+ on their SAT® (98th percentile), and are held in the Evesham Public Library on Saturdays from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. (First Session will be on 2/10/24). The NJAEI uses free practice materials provided by Khan Academy, a non-profit organization unaffiliated with the NJAEI. Students create a free Khan Academy account, and together, we navigate through content lessons before individually taking a mini-practice test section. The NJAEI strives to make high-quality test preparation accessible to all in the South Jersey area to create a more equitable and accessible education landscape for students.

The First Session Takes Place At The Evesham Public Library on 2/10/24
